We offer a fun and dynamic working environment. All our staff are team players, happy to cover when someone else isn’t around. There isn’t a typical Heywood person - our consultants are appropriate for the markets in which they recruit.
As a business we are less reliant on paid advertising to generate our candidates and therefore we expect our recruiters to be comfortable headhunting from non-client firms. Full training will be given but those with no interest in headhunting would probably not suit.

ResearchersOur researchers are integral to our team and handle the most important aspect of our business – candidates. As a researcher you will be taught how to professionally map non-client firms and successfully headhunt selected individuals for the recruitment managers at Heywood.
As soon as we think you are ready you will be promoted to Associate Consultant working with the individual Manager or Director who has sponsored you into his/her team. Typically, after a further two months you should be promoted to a full consultant role.
In addition to a competitive basic salary you will receive a fixed commission on all CVs you generate and additional commission when one of your candidates is placed. We offer additional weekly and monthly incentives together with team lunches. Other benefits include 22 days holiday allowance and BUPA private medical insurance after an initial probation period.
ConsultantsAs a consultant, you will normally have at least 12 to 18 months experience as a recruiter with another firm. You will know how to recruit and will be looking for an opportunity to excel without red tape and admin frustrations. Heywood adopts a laissez-faire policy to management so you will need to be self-motivated and personally driven in order to succeed.
Consultants are given a large share of the pie yet often only recruit for a handful of companies. We build deep working relationships with our clients over a long period of time and when it comes to recruitment, we choose only those firms that we ourselves would like to work for. As a result, we are a preferred supplier to many of the best recruitment companies.
Operating within highly competitive sectors, we genuinely believe that if we don’t do it, someone else will and if we don’t do it now, someone else will. Everything is urgent. CVs are typed quickly and we adopt a 'no post' philosophy. Email or phone is used wherever possible.
Financially, we offer a great package. In addition to a good basic (which we review after a short period of time), we offer a commission plan that starts at 20% of personal revenue and rises to 30%. We offer weekly and monthly incentives, team lunches and a 'big biller' bonus for those that excel. We offer a generous holiday allowance and BUPA private medical insurance after an initial probationary period.
ManagersOur Manager title is often offered as an indication of seniority within the business although others do manage a team or run a Practice.
Managers are charged with building their practice and driving it forward. Although mentoring support is provided, most want to be left alone to run their practice as they see fit once objectives and goals have been agreed.

DirectorsDirectors continue to run a desk (as does the company’s Managing Director)! A director at Heywood will be charged with the complete running of Practice or Practices and take full P&L responsibility. Support from the Managing Director as and when required is fully available.
Directors are entrepreneurs with significant recruitment experience who typically will have the know-how and ability to run their own businesses. We provide the select few with an opportunity to take full responsibility for their sector and benefit from its success.
Directors receive an amazing package. In addition to a great basic salary (which we review after a short period of time), we offer the same personal commission plan that starts at 20% of personal revenue and rises to 30%. Weekly and monthly incentives, team lunches and a 'big biller' bonus are also made available to those that excel. Directors also receive between 30-50% of their practice’s profits, a substantial loyalty bonus, generous holiday allowance and BUPA private medical insurance.
